The 2016 Château Recougne Bordeaux Supérieur is the flagship wine for the Milhade family. The gravelly clay soil is ideal for Merlot, which comprises 80% of the vineyard complemented by equal parts of both Cabernets. Several vineyard parcels are over 50 years in age, adding depth to the wine. Furthermore, the Milhades employ environmentally friendly viticultural techniques in the vineyard, coupled with minimal intervention in the winery. The resulting wine offers pure black fruits, cassis especially, with dark earthy accents, including distinct smoky and forest floor notes. It's fresh with good acidity and lovely sweet, ripe fruit and tannin.
Varietal Composition: 78% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon
Appellation: Bordeaux Supérieur AOC
Aging: 15 months in large vats (no barrels)

"This ripe wine is full of black fruits and ripe tannins, suggesting a fine future. It's structured and dense, which promises richness as it develops and opens up. Give this concentrated wine until 2022." -RV, 12/31/18
