Robert Parker: 96 Points (tasted Nov 30th, 2013)
Winery's Notes: "Chateau Margaux 1947 is an outstandingly great wine, particularly powerful and still very fresh. The bouquet is intense and mellow, with very ripe fruit coming through. On the palate, the power of the tannins comes to the fore, leaving a slightly dry impression, which is quite typical of the wines of this generation. This type of wine was made for long ageing. It can be enjoyed now, of course, but it can be laid down without any problem for many more years. (September 2002)
1947 was one of the hottest years of the century; it was one of a run of very hot years with 1945, 1946, and 1949. Was global-warming already with us? (The picking began 16th September)"
