Winery's Notes: "Bella Grace's Old Vine Zinfandel tradition continues with grapes sourced again from the 100+ year old vineyard at the Crain-Sleeper Ranch. Our 2016 OVZ has a beautiful, rich magenta color with subtle hints of cherry and other red fruit on the nose. Across the palate, the red fruit theme continues with bright cherry, soft oak tannins and white pepper. Enjoy the long, lush finish with or without a rich chocolate dessert or tangy cheese!"
Vineyard Notes: "The Crane family homesteaded in Amador County in 1860, and the Crane/Sleeper ranch is one of the Shenandoah Valley's oldest. The Old Vine Zinfandel wines are produced from 100+ year old, head pruned vines that are dry farmed. Dry farming causes deep rooting of the vines, and results in small berries and clusters with intense flavors. Grapes are harvested when they reach no higher than 25.0 BRIX and pH levels of 3.8.
Bella Grace Vineyards are in the Shenandoah Valley of Amador County containing 19.6 acres of Italian and Rhone varietals. Sustainable vineyard practices are employed always, respectful of the environment. The Vermentino grows on 23-year-old fortified root stock. There are less than 65 acres of Vermentino in California and our estate maintains just under 2 acres."
Varietal Composition: 100% Zinfandel

"Attractive and focused raspberry and black-cherry flavors fill out this medium-bodied wine. The aromas are fruity, with touches of clove and cinnamon, while the flavors are clean, pure and delicious. The wine has just enough tannin to firm up the texture, along with good acidity for balance. Drink now or hold through 2022."
